  • Cleaning Out Stuff

Haven't opened my Grandmother's cedar chest in a long time--had forgotten these old magazines were in the bottom.

Along with some old quilts--have no idea what to do with this stuff !!

  • Well, if you don't want it, I certainly wouldn't just 'pitch it' without asking someone who deals with collectables and antiques.  I'll bet some if not all of those magazines are no longer in print.  As for the quilts...they go for hi-dollar at auctions here in this area!!

  • @GrannyHummingbird - Quilts used to go for around $300.-$400 at auctions--the last one we went to a couple of years ago -they werent going for much.

I wont pitch it--just hate no one will love this stuff like I do !

  • You can keep them for your family . They are history .

I like the old magazines of the years 50's they make me dream, Maggie .

    Love

    Michel

  • Those magazines are old.  You could probably get some $$ if you sold all of it.

  • @KarensPotpourri2 - Thought about that to Karen--our antique mall closed so I'm trying to think of somewhere to take them to get them checked

  • What about E-bay?

"Why you must take a war job" now that's an article that I'd like to read. xD

  • @nov_way - Well I just have so much stuff-it's time to get rid of some of it. The Magazine you were talking about is a 1943 magazine. I am sure I will thumb thru it before I let it go.....as I do most of them...thats why I never get around to letting them go. Thanks for stopping by

  • show us the quilts, might make an offer. Love that cosmo cover.

  • I bet this stuff is worth some money.

  • Those look like they could be worth some mulah lol!

ryc: I could never get Max a beanie baby he would destroy it for sure lol!

Hope your day is good....we are to see 60 today yay!

  • I have a room full of things like that...  I need to get rid of it to have the space back but can't bare to just toss them.. The girls don't want them, they are not a pack rat like I am.  And I don't have the know how of how to find someone that would buy it.

  • @dianelub - I'm trying to figure it out-I checked e bay--saw lots on there but no one is bidding on them--my son doesnt want them either(probaly end up back in the cedar chest)-I just can't throw them away,,,,

  • Oh, what a great collection of the past.
Thank you for sharing them with us my dear friend.

  • @bleuzeus - And I havent gotten rid of a one !! Been thumbing thru them reading things from the past--1930's-40's

  • Oh wow! These mags are fantastic!! I love reading old ones. My next door neighbor is moving and she gave my husband some National Geographics from the 1930's. We have really enjoyed them. Are y'all getting lots of rain today? We had a storm blow through and it's still overcast and cold. We'll see if there's a round 2! lol

  • @VallejoGirl -  That why I never get around to getting rid of them--I'm still looking thru them !! Raining here--looks like it will most of the day--I'm ready for some warm weather( hope I don't regret saying that when those 100 plus days hit us !)

  • Antique quilts still get good prices at the antique shows my sister & I attend here in Ohio. The magazine would probably be worth something too, depending on their condition and titles. In the pic, they look in good shape, so you may be in luck if you can find a dealer.

  • @jkhsquonk -  We still have one antique mall here. I think I will take some of this stuff down there and let them look at them.

  • I enjoyed seeing the old Cosmopolitan cover. Enjoy reading them.

  • @vexations -  I think that's the one that caught everyones eye. There are several old "true romance" I think my Aunt hid them away because that was a "racey" magazine back then !
