  • Mother is still hanging in there. Shes still and quiet--no pain. My sister came up yesterday and today and stayed a couple of hours--Friday I stayed all day and nite- because they thought she was fading--last nite I was going to come home and sleep but the storm knocked out the electricity -the generator wasnt strong enough to run everything so no ac in the building--I even called Oncor myself because they told the nursing home "we will put you on the list" I called them and said-I would think the nursing home and hospital will go to the top of the list-so I opened the window--got a newspaper and fanned my Mom till the electricity came back on. The generator keep the hall lights and oxygen going--got home at 1:30 a.m

  • Bless you Maggie.  I know you did it because you loved her, but that was so sweet of you.      I had decided if you didn't do an entry today, I was going to e-mail you tonight.

  • Thinking of you and sending prayers.   It is good that she is not in pain.   Stay strong.

  • Sorry Maggie...this is just so hard. Hang in there....prayers on the way

  • Maggie, I have been in the position of watching my mother fade. I'm sending many blessings your way. If she isn't in pain you are already blessed.

  • @TheSunnyC - Right-thats a great blessing-she isnt in pain--shes resting peacefully

  • @Maggietx1 - Don't forget to let folks take care of YOU too.  And YOU take care of you!!

  • Grannyhummingbird gave some of the best advice, try hard to take care of yourself, much faces you ahead in the way of grief work. Prayers for you and your family.

  • I agree. You must take care of yourself. How stupid for them to only keep the hallways lit. I hope when you read this that you have had some rest. God's blessings be with you.

RYC I use coupons, but only for what I will use up. These people looked selfish to me. I noticed they had stores who gave double and triple back. We don't have that here. I talked to a Walmart cashier yesterday and asked if she had eouponers such as these and she does not. However I was waiting in line with two women and two children who gave the cashier a card. Each one bought one candy bar and in return, after the cashier took minutes typing in numbers, got hundreds of dollars in cash back. I was curious so I asked what that was about and she said LINK. I told her I could use one of those cards!! She said, "So would I!"
