I woke up this morning thinking I smelled rain-and for some strange reason--I thought of when I was a kid sleeping with the window open hearing and smelling the fresh rain-and wondering why I never open a window when it rains any more. It was one of those memories that make you smile. Next time it rains-I'm sleeping with the window open--even if it's just a little,,,,,,,

I used to love sleeping in the camper with the windows tilted out, when it was raining.
@TheSunnyC - I guess I'm spoiled to my ac-but I'm going to do it--I love walking in the rain
@GrannyHummingbird - We havent camped in years either--I think we are missing a lot in this day and age huh?
@Maggietx1 - I'm so crippled up these days, I couldn't even get the camper hooked up if I had one. LOL Used to though!!!
I understand that!. When we were waiting to build our last house, we lived in a 33ft. camper. and we had crank out windows just above the head of our bed. I loved to open them and both hear and smell it. What a nice memory, Thanks
Yes there is a special smell when it is raining but the danger to sleep with the window open is to get a cold , even in the bed !!

Agree! this morning I sat on the swing reading and it started to rain. Since there is a canopy I didn't get wet so I sat. The squirrel also continued to sit on the feeder eating.

Hi, I used to do that ---Once many years gone by........we were in a condo by the ocean.
I was so excited, I couldn't sleep. I finally, went on the patio, and lay a blanket down.........
and the ocean and beach were like only a few feet away. I was lulled to sleep by the
ocean, and the moon was beautiful overhead. I shall never forget, how wonderful, it was
to be lulled by the sounds of mother nature.........and the ebb and flow of the tide. I love
sleeping when it rains, and love the fresh dew in the mornings. Thank you, for stopping
by my place, it meant alot to me. Things, are what they are, and you can't change, the

I love the way rain smells.
When I was a teenager, my bedroom was in the finished off attic & when it rained, I could hear the pitter patter on the roof. It was lovely.
