  • Boy, those first get-to-gethers are AWFUL!!!   I don't get very 'into' Thanksgiving, but I sure look forward to EVERYBODY being here on Christmas!!!

  • We will be in Ohio with husbands relatives-a whole week!! I'm already ready to be home and I haven't left yet.  Hoping you and John have a good day even though you will be missing loved ones.  (kind of hard to get past that though-totally understand that).

  • @GrannyHummingbird - I used to-when you would see folks you hadnt seen all year. I bet you have a big meal so you can get rid of that ox tail stew !!!! (you know I had to add that )

  • @KarensPotpourri2 - Oh Lord I would dread being away from home for a week. I like my own bed at nite after 2-3 nights-just keep smiling and sneaking off it the back room to write down all the funny stuff you will have to tell us !!

  • @Maggietx1 - As a matter of fact, we DID have that one year....along with Tortillini (sp) soup, Chili, and potato soup.   That turned out to be more work than the seasoned roast pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, 7 layer salad, cheese ball, and garlic bread.   Those are usually what I furnish.  The rest of them bring potluck.   I think Ken is bringing Beef Rib eye this year.   (That cut is just a little ways from the ox tail, you know.   LOL    Hey!!!  I got an idea!!!  Why don't you and John come HERE!!!

  • @GrannyHummingbird - the ribs are close to the tail ???????? What the heck kind of animal are ya'll raising up there ???????? Maybe I was looking at the wrong end !!! Ha

What a sweet invite--I bet it would be a wonderful time too !! I love all those soups !

  • We go to one of Wil's siblings and we have to take our turn in the yearly change over. HOWEVER if this man doesn't get all the things fixed that are wrong with this house by next Nov. he can just forget having it here.
I don't think I want to do ox tail soup but I would choke it down just for you IF we EVER get there!!!!

We do Christmas with the kids and they don't care what we have as long as the baked cheese grits are on the table and lots of it.

  • @TheSunnyC - I would tell her to give you my share. I bet it would be the best holiday we ever had !

  • @Maggietx1 - @TheSunnyC - The word "Ox Tail" is deceiving.  It's just good old beef meat!!!

  • @GrannyHummingbird - Well thats good to know -but not as much fun and thinking it was the tail cut off ! Thought maybe Paul Bunyon was at your house with his ox !!!!!!

    Your a nut !!

  • This debate will NEVER end.   It IS the tail, but there's lotsa good beef on that tail!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GrannyHummingbird - Whatever it is-we have had a lot of fun with it and if it was the only way I ever got to come to your place I would eat oxtail soup or a goose liver sandwich(whatever that is )

  • @Maggietx1 - GOOSE LIVER!?!?!?!!?!?!?    YUCK!!!!!!

  • Happy Thanksgiving!!!  R. Hood

  • @GrannyHummingbird -  LOL- who's the biggest nut you or me??????????

  • We have no shake and bake. We will have sandwhiches just like we did the year Scott died. I do want a buttermilk pie though as that was the last thing he brought.

  • @BLB - shake and bake?

  • OK steak and shake. wil and I call Bed Bath Beyond, Bed Bath Begone.

  • @BLB - Oh I thought maybe ya'll had a different place to eat !
