A cousin of mine lost her daughter this week. It was very hard for her--her daughter was in her early 30s--had heart trouble. I was telling her about the things that had happened to me with several family members who had died and left for me what I think of as signs that they had made it to heaven and were telling me they were ok. After my Mother died I found wheat pennys for a while--every where I went--I took it as a sign of love from her. When my Aunt died at her funeral--butterflys just swarmed around --covered the flowers. It was beautiful ! She loved butterflys. Just wondering if anyone else had signs or different things like that happened that brought them comfort after a loved one died.

A monarch butterfly rode with me on the mower one day my hand, my cheek, my knee... just kept finding a place to sit.(it was one of our large accounts, took about 1-1/2 hours) after my dad died...... and the weekend after he died and we went back down to mom's, we saw a triple rainbow.
I am a grief counselor with a hospice, so I hear these kinds of stories all the time!
When I was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago God gave me a similar "sign". I received many flowers from friends and family during my surgery and subsequent treatments. Every floral arrangement I received was the same shade of purple. Purple is not even my favorite color - so I believe it was a God thing! In my mind it was a reminder that he is sovereign over the big things and the little things and it blessed my heart!
With that said - I don't necessarily believe that deceased people can send us signs. But, I do believe that our awesome God loves us so much that he offers those reassurances if we are open to seeing them.
@SouthForkCheerMom - Thats awsome ! I love that
@gokellyjo - As a family caregiver for about 20 years I have worked with hospice a lot--I think they are a group of angels !When was going for my last cacner test before surgery-I got out of the car --the wind was blowing 20-30 mph but at my feet laying still was a dollar bill and all I could see was in God we trust--I knew I would be ok--That dollar still hangs on my frig ! Whether its God letting know they are ok or our loved ones--its stilll a comfort !-Hope your doing ok
I haven't had any experiences like that but I have had peace with the death of loved ones.
@KarensPotpourri2 - thats the best of all Karen--feeling peace that your loved one is at peace
When we buried the ashes of a 12yr. old killed by her mom, a butterfly flew around her picture and urn during the service as it winged away.
After Scott died only one time did I see him in a dream in his white cowboy hat and he was smiling.
I am sorry about your cousin, I know only too well what she is going through.
@BLB - Bless you Bonnie-but I do know that must have comforted you to see him in your dream smiling
Hello Maggie,
I had posted a post similar to this a while back, yes I have witnessed many things that let me know my loved ones are in heaven. I will come back & give you the link to that post. This was a great read.
Btw I really hope you all get that cool weather & some rain.
Hugs

Sorry about your cousin, my deep sympathies. After I lost my mother, I was speaking of her to my husband. Her picture fell down out of the blue. Luv R. Hood / Kathy

Yes I have. My beautiful sister died June 2, at the age of 66 from an aggressive form of cancer she had fought for over 10 years. I smell her perfume every where and she gave me her collection of ceramic bells before she died. I hear them ringing whenever I think of her and my son always comes and asks who is ringing the bells. They are physically ringing.
@Grannys_Place - Hello and thanks for adding me. I will enjoy reading your blog too !. Thats wonderful about your sister and the bells--bet it makes you smile everytime you hear them huh?
And the perfume--that makes me smile !
I have never experienced the phenominon that you describe but far be it from me to say it doesn't happen. I believe it possible but not for peopole like me. It takes a special ability that we all have but some of us are too tangled up with reality to practice it. It is also something that unless constantly exercised can be lost and must be redeveloped again. Bobby had that capacity when we married. He was able to take me on two "trips" where I "know" that we were somewhere else...and I wasn't asleep. It was spectacular and such a feeling of freedom. Now that is not the same thing as you experience but the capacity to experience it seems similar. (Left you a message)
