  • Decisions,,,,,,,,,

John has been planning on taking his retirement in April 2013-at 62 --because thats when he can draw his pension-30 years. He's tired of the long drive and several things. Well Friday they offered voluntary layoff--plus  several months salary for people who had been there a while sounds great huh??--whats the hold up??? Insurance--we arent quiet old enough for medicare and buying your own insurance is real high !!! Anyone know of any good insurance-that wont break the bank--we are going to go check some out tomorrow--we only have till friday to decide but we will still have his company insurance 1 more month. I know aarp has some good insurance--not sure how expensive it is for those not collecting medicare. Just thought someone might have an idea

  • Just be careful and pay close attention to what all the policy states!!

  • Take very good care. We took early buy out but at a much younger age. He was too young to retire....he works harder now than he did at work. Retirement with him sure isn't what we talked about or I thought it was going to be. We are doing fine unless the government breaks us but still the ins etc. is a challenge. Hope you find a good one.

  • @KarensPotpourri2 - I will karen-thats what kind of scares me-but its a hard deal to pass up

  • @TheSunnyC - I hope we can find some good insurance that doesnt cost us an arm and leg----and he can always get a part time job or something to tide us over till 65(3 years) He isnt a sitter--if hes not busy he will go crazy or drive me crazy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • Being farmers, we've always paid our own insurance.  We have always had Blue Cross, Blue Shield and it's GOOD insurance, but it's expensive.    Sorry...don't have any suggestions.

  • I wish I knew Maggie. Daughter is searching for insurance as well as a better job. I teased her about AARP as she turns 50 this year. If she hears of a company I will let you know.

  • @GrannyHummingbird - Thats the insurance we have now thru Johns job--but we just cant afford to pay for it ourselves right now

  • @BLB - I'm going to see the lady that does all the insurance for the senior citzens thing here in town--shes a friend of mine so I hope she can help me--if so I will let you know for your daughter

  • Thanks Maggie. She won't be 50 until August though.

Just off the phone with Dawn. Nancy had surgery last night. A large portion of her small bowel was removed but fortunately he was able to sew the ends together so no bag.

But the anethiseologist (sp?) nicked her lung trying to put in a central line so now she is on a ventilator. So she is sedated of course.

  • @BLB - Oh Bonnie bless her heart--she has sure had a hard time of it !

  • Hello friend!! hope things are good with you and you are getting some cooler weather....we had quite a run of hot weather here in Michigan...in the 80's for now but going up again....take care
