Old Sayings
I reached down to scratch my foot this morning and it popped in my mind my Mother used to say"If the bottom of your foot itches your gonna walk on strange ground" or If the palm of your hand itches your gonna come into some money--or did it depend on with palm itches ? I have forgotten. It your ears itched someone was talking about you. Any one besides me remember those? How about ones that you have heard?
Just made me think of my Mother this morning

If it rains while the sun is out "the devil's whipping his wife"
@mommachatter - LOl I never heard that one but you can bet I will laugh next time I see the sun out in the rain !
If you drop a dish rag-company is coming.
@KarensPotpourri2 - Now thats a good one ! Does it work if I drop a sponge?????????
@Maggietx1 - I was thinking that there's probably some people who don't know what a dish rag is? So yes, a sponge will work fine.
If your nose itches, someone's coming with a hole in their britches.
If you take a piece of bread when you still have one on your plate, someone's coming, hungry.
That's all I can think of right now, but I might be back. LOL
@KarensPotpourri2 - I sure know what it is !!! But it is strange that things like that a lot of people dont know !
@GrannyHummingbird - I hadn't thought of that one about the hole in your bitches for years Granny--thanks for reminding of that one.-Never heard the one about the bread but I like it !
See a pin pick it up, all the day you'll have good luck. (no idea why a pin)
Drop silverware on the floor "company is coming".
Step on a crack, break you mother's back... that wasn't very nice..wonder where it came from?
@BLB - I never heard the one about dropping the silverware--I like that--we used to say the one about stepping on a crack--wow we used to be real careful about walking on the sidewalk !! I dont know where it came from either !

searching for the meaning of that mean quote and found the interesting link above.
I always like the money one myself.
Ok I always heard it like this, if your left palm, or left bottom of the foot itches your gonna come into some money. We always did the one step on a crack will break your mother's back. & once when I was young I had a small wort on my chin, & my grandma told me to hide my moms dish rag under the kitchen steps & it would go away, & so I did, & low & behold I was playing under a weeping willow tree, I tied the branches together & was swinging & I hit my chin & off went the wort...lol...of course I knew it had to be because I hid my mom's dish rag lol!
This was fun...never heard some of the above ones. Enjoyed reading them...:)!
@Mymanyblessings - I never heard that one but I like it ! Funny the things we heard as a kid and believed them !I was stranged to death to step on a crack in the sidewalk !
Sayings like that cannot be forgotten.
Love

Hi Maggie... good to see you, too.. I spend most of my internet time over on Facebook, but, I like to come over here once a month and update! lol! Hope you are doing well! Love these "sayings"... one I remember from when I was young was... "If you go swimming 30 minutes after you eat... you'll drown!" That one used to scare me to death! lol!
@daisymae81 - Oh Yeah I remember that one too--Lord our Mom wouldnt let us get near water for 1 hour after we ate !
